EBSCO Publishing have developed a new interface for their EBSCOhost platform (in which many databases are hosted) for users with mobile devices users known as EBSCOhost Mobile.

To access the new interface go to the QUT Library database record for EBSCOhost (just select it from the popular database list on the QUT Library databases page at http://www.library.qut.edu.au/find/databases/) and then select the link EBSCOhost interface for mobile users. The Australian Research Council (ARC) has recently announced that Scopus will provide citation information for the full Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative in 2010.

QUT Library is now considering a subscription to Scopus for 2010 as currently we do not have access. More information will follow as I know more.

Hindawi Publishing offers Institutional Memberships to enable institutions to encourage their authors to publish their research in a Hindawi open access journal free of charge without having to administer and pay “Article Processing Charges” from their individual research budget. QUT Library has paid the membership cost for 2010 of US$3,000 per annum so if you wish to publish in a Hindawi journal in 2010 it will be free to do so.

When publishing in any Hindawi journals, authors retain the copyright of their articles, which are freely distributed under the “Creative Common Attribution License,” permitting the unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of the article in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

The current full complement of 161 Hindawi open access titles are also available in the catalogue. Just do a Title search using ‘Hindawi’ to see the list.

Decommissioning of Libraries Australia Free Search Service. From 4 November 2009 the Libraries Australia free service will be replaced by Trove. Trove is a new discovery service focused on Australia, Australians, and items found in Australian collecting institutions. It will provide a single point of access to resources currently discoverable via the National Library of Australia’s multiple discovery services, and to digitised material freely available online anywhere in the world.
